The assessment of a company’s performance in the occupational safety sector is usually based on accident frequency as the number of accidents per one million hours worked. NA has succeeded in continuously reducing accident frequency in the last few years and meanwhile achieves a lower number than the average of the Employers’ Liability Insurance Association of the Chemical Industry as the statutory accident insurer. This positive trend should be carried on by continual improvements in all sectors of occupational safety.
Apart from technical measures, such as the further development and modernisation of production sites, internal and external seminars on occupational safety belong to the standard for all management levels. They ensure that the employees have an extensive knowledge of occupational safety.

Safety awareness is tested by behaviour-oriented safety inspections. Accidents are examined in detail to establish their technical, organisational and behaviour-oriented causes, in order to avoid repetition.
A technically very well equipped occupational safety workshop ensures that the employees are optimally supplied with personal protective equipment. The continuing holding of health and hygiene discussion groups helps to improve occupational safety and health protection and consequently the employees’ wellbeing at the workplace.
NA has been commended as a company with an exemplary occupational safety system due to the constant and successful improvements in occupational safety. |

NA took part in the VCI Nord’s Responsible Care Competition 2006, Occupational Safety Section, and came second.
This award reflects once again how successful the Company’s occupational safety is.
NA presented the elements of its occupational safety management system to representatives of various ministries, IG BCE, VCI and BG-Chemie.
The jury was particularly impressed by the behaviour-oriented safety inspections, during which senior staff regularly question employees in different production sectors and workshops about their safety-awareness. |
