NA AG’s performance at the Hamburg site
Norddeutsche Affinerie AG uses production processes that cause little off-gas and/or wastewater, consume energy sparingly and produce little waste. Whenever a process creates energy, this is utilised as far as possible. Connected cleaning technology complements the environmental protection facilities integrated in the process. Due to this corporate philosophy and significant continual capital expenditure on environmental investment, Norddeutsche Affinerie AG has attained a leading position in the world in environmental protection. One criterion for NA's performance is the production-specific SO2 emissions.

The use and development of efficient new process technologies as well as the decades of experience in the application of measures to reduce emissions have had the result that today Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, with production-specific emissions totalling 4 kg SO2/t of produced copper, is one of the most environmentally friendly copper smelters in the world.
