| TOP ROD |

|
TOP ROD is directly cast, oxygen-free copper rod, which can also be low alloyed depending on the customer’s requirements. The total content of alloying elements amounts to up to 5%.
TOP ROD is produced with diameters of 8.0, 12.7, 16.0, 18.0, 20.0 and 25.0 mm. On request we can supply rod with other diameters.
The Process
- Continuous vertical upwards casting of oxygen-free and low-alloyed copper rod.
- Separated electric inductively heated melting and casting furnaces for reproducable casting conditions.
- Direct casting to the required final diameter.
- No rolling processes.
- Flexible, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly production.
- Consecutive casting of rod with different diameters.
- Fast changeover between alloys and diameters.
- No additional surface treatment with pickling and conservation agents or lubricants.
- Consistent utilisation of state-of-the-art technology ensures constantly high product quality.

TOP ROD for drawing
With oxygen contents of < 5ppm TOP ROD is hydrogen resistant. It has therefore good welding and brazing properties as well as excellent deforming properties. TOP ROD fulfils inter alia the requirements laid down under ASTM B 49.
Owing to its homogeneous product quality, TOP ROD offers, when finely drawn, the best prerequisites for high spool weights in the fine wire rod sector. The drawing process is not disturbed by either inclusions from the rolling process or cuprous oxide aggregations.
TOP ROD for continous extruding
As an "endless billet" TOP ROD is the ideal material for the continuous extruding of strip and profiles (e.g. in the Conform© process). The rod surface is scale-free without being treated with a pickling agent, wax or another surface protection. In addition, the small diameter tolerances and the particular roundness of the rod make this material suitable for these applications.
TOP ROD for rolling
TOP ROD can also be rolled into strip or profiles, for which the rods properties have a likewise favourable impact.
