| NA sets new benchmarks |
 |
The quality of our sulphuric acid products has always corresponded with the requirements of very demanding consumers. However, the purity of a smelter acid had natural limits which did not permit its use in some areas of application. The deciding factor was as usual the too high mercury content. As a result the consumer had no alternative to sulphuric acid which had been produced from brimstone.
NA set itself the target of improving the quality of our sulphuric acid to such an extent that the traditional difference between smelter acid and sulphur-based acid could be overcome.
The joint work of Research and Development and Production enabled this target to be reached and, as one of the first smelters, we were able to launch our premium quality successfully on to the market.
NA is therefore now offering an acid that is comparable in every respect to high purity acid produced from brimstone. This premium quality is characterised above all by a mercury content of considerably less than 0.1 ppm and a fluorine content of less than 2 ppm. You will find further details in our Specification.
The superintendents in charge of our suphuric acid production should also be pleased to give you more technical advice and information.
Both the premium and standard qualities are usually produced at NA with a concentration of about 96 % H2SO4. It is, of course, possible to supply other concentrations, as required by the customer, ranging from 93 % to 99 % H2SO4.
We also produce oleum with a content of about 25 % of free SO3.
